When My Hero Academia unveiled U.A. High School’s Big Three—fans knew something MVP-level was going to happen. Mirio Togata, Tamaki Amajiki, and Nejire Hado quickly became the trio everyone chatted about. These top hero candidates didn’t initially shine in the U.A. Sports Festival, but their quirky personalities and skills made quite an impression.

The Big Three were first introduced to Class 1-A by Shota Aizawa after the second term orientation. As the excitement built, Mirio took the spotlight. He decided to teach the class through an intense hands-on experience—by battling nearly every student in Class 1-A! His mastery was evident as he effortlessly dominated them, showcasing how the Hero Work-Studies had transformed him into U.A.’s top student. Talk about a welcome mat that left a mark!

Their significance only grew during the Shie Hassaikai Raid. Alongside Class 1-A’s powerhouse students like Izuku, Eijiro, Ochaco, and Tsuyu, they fought against formidable foes, including the notorious Kai Chisaki. However, the battle came at a cost; Mirio lost his Quirk. But don’t count them out! Even without Mirio’s abilities, the remaining duo proved their worth in Class 1-A’s hypothetical emergency drill, showcasing their versatility as heroes.

The stakes continued to rise during the Final War, when the Big Three reunited to confront a newly empowered Tomura Shigaraki. Even against overwhelming odds, their teamwork excelled, reminding everyone why they were the cream of the crop at U.A.

Graduation day finally arrived in June. The Big Three had not only trained hard but also refined their skills through the Hero Work-Studies, earning them a reputation as the strongest hero students in all of Japan. Their potential was recognized widely, with many predicting they would soon surpass even the Pro Heroes.

Nejire, with her powerful, ranged Quirk, emerged as a force to be reckoned with. She wielded her abilities with such finesse that she could overpower top-tier villains solo. Meanwhile, Tamaki, who had often been overshadowed by his more outgoing peers, harbored untapped potential that many Pro Heroes envied. His Quirk’s versatility combined with practical application left an impression on both allies and foes alike. Fat Gum, his mentor, once said Tamaki outclassed everyone, including himself and even the esteemed Ryukyu.

Then there’s Mirio. The embodiment of resilience! Once struggling to control his Quirk, he underwent rigorous training with Sir Nighteye. This led to him mastering his abilities and emerging as U.A. High’s top candidate for the No. 1 Hero spot. He was not just a formidable hero; he inspired countless fans, outshining even the likes of Endeavor and Hawks.

Looking back, the introduction of the Big Three was a pivotal moment in My Hero Academia. Their unique quirks, character growth, and determination set the stage for future heroes and storytelling. They were not just students; they became icons, paving the way for the next generation of heroes and forever changing the landscape of anime hero narratives.

My Hero Academia is available to watch on Hulu and Apple TV.
